Aluminum and Vinyl Windows
There are hundreds of window manufacturers and just about an equal amount of ways to take screens on and off of them. My best advice is when dealing with a window that is a vinyl or aluminum the screen will usually come out from the inside, that is you must:
- Push the screen frame towards the center of the encasement
- Try to push frame up and down to try and make it come loose
- Pull in gently from the bottom and that should work.
Dirt and debris will lock screen frame in place, so a good ideal is to use some WD-40 spray in between the screen frame and the window frame to try and make it come loose.
Wood Windows
When your window encasement’s are wood, for example a double-hung window, then putting a screen on and off should be a bit easier. Wood window usually have hardware on the top and bottom to hold the screen in place, they are called the top jiffy hangers and bottom bail latch. To put the screen on and if you do have the hardware I just mentioned you have to:
- Insert the screen frame in the top jiffy hangers first evenly
- once you inserted the screen in the top hardware, push up and make sure the frame is snug
- Push frame in from the bottom till it’s flush
- Clip in the bottom bail latch and your done
Extruded aluminum sliding screen doors
The best sliding screen door for a lot of traffic is the Extruded aluminum sliding screen door, It is heavy duty and extremely sturdy. You can also get this door in a few different finishes and make sure that it is a baked enamel finish so you can make sure that it will last you for years without chipping or fading. you can ad a pet door which will protect the bottom portion of the screen from tearing. this is called a pet protector or pet grille. Make sure the sliding screen door comes with all metal parts, especially the rollers, handle and lock latch. One of the key things to look out for is metal ball bearing rollers and a thick frame gauge, if you have this you should be O.K. We install Retractable screens in the following areas, Los Angeles County, Ventura County, Simi Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley
Roll form sliding screen doors
Avoid Roll form sliding screen doors like the plague, they will only frustrate you every time you have to open them. I do not recommend buying these light weight usually made out of tin or steal screen doors.
Some patio screen doors may need a pet guard grille
The screen protector is a must with kid’s and pet’s. We are in business thanks to children and pet’s they are the number one cause for screens breaking and tearing. One way to help keep your screens lasting longer is the screen protector or what some people call the pet grille. They are good for swinging screen doors and sliding screen doors only. They get installed on the outside of the screen frame and are held on by four screws on the four corners. There are two kind of screen protectors, one is thin, light weight, rattles and usually is very warped. The other type is thicker, heavier, does not rattle and is pretty straight. Another way to tell them apart is the one that rattles is spray painted and is usually all scratched and the other better quality screen protector’s finish is baked enamel which always looks like it’s in new condition. these can be installed by a handyman or a screen company will do it.
How to clean a patio screen door and what you will need
- Bucket
- Large sponge
- Dish soap
- Towels (for drying)
- Hose
We strongly suggest you clean one window screen at a time, because if you don’t and clean them all at once, it will be difficult to find the correct window each screen fits into on the house.
- Find a area with grass where your hose can reach.
- Go get a screen.
- Lay it down flat on the grass.
- Put the sponge in the bucket with dish soap and water.
- Grab the sponge and while screen lays flat on the grass, scrub it softly with sponge from side to side 2 or 3 times.
- Flip screen over and repeat step 5.
- Grab hose and rinse it off.
- Stand screen up and with a dry towel wipe it dry.
- Once you’ve dried it, you’re done with that screen.
- Go install it back in the correct window and continue by repeating step 2.

Wooden screendoors
My mobile screen service has done thousands of wooden screendoors since the early 90’s. I take special care when I work with these type of doors and understand how important they are to my customers.
There are a couple of things I can do with wood doors to get them back in shape as far as screens go. I can rescreen them, what I mean by this is I can replace just the screen itself or I can make a custom frame for it that matches the door color as best as possible. The new frame is made to size just for your door and it goes installed right where the existing old wood moulding used to lay, this looks and works great. Either way you choose and I make it happen.
Sash and Door
The extruded 1.3/4 inch aluminum screen doors are not like any other, they are much stronger that your typical roll form screen door from the local hardware store. They may look heavy but that’s exactly what they are just plain heavy, too heave for the little plastic rollers they come with. These are the type of screen doors we all know have pushed and pulled across the track many times
Extruded aluminum screen doors are strong, light and flexable and they are made for heavy traffic and lots of use. The 1.3/4 is the size of the frame thickness, the handles are also made out of metal and extruded. Screen door handle locks are metal also and gives this sturdy sliding screen door a secure feeling.
Screen door lock installation is done on the door encasement and does not take long, once done this sliding screen door will slide like no other and we make sure of it because all work is guaranteed and if you call or email us and mention this web-site we will give you a 10% discount on your screen door job.
Bug screens
Bug screens will not only help keep your home safe from mosquito’s, flies but they can help keep your home cool from the hot suns rays. That’s right solar screen is what we use if your being attacked by the sun. If you have any questions about any of these protections I use please give me a call or just email me.
Most of my work is custom because most homes are of square. I am a mobile company and I do most of the work on-site. I measure, cut and make the screens right at your place.
The bus screens mesh comes in diferent types of sizes and colors and thickness, so if your are having a problems with pets, bugs, kids and your screens give me call and I will be happy to answer any questions right over the phone.
Rescreening your windows can be done very easily and the perfect time is spring. This can change the look of your home and give you a clear view. The screen which is most popular is fiber-glass screening and is extremely clear to see thru and cleaning it is also done very easily and quick.
Rescreening
There are two mesh colors which are used in just about every job site and that is, gray and charcoal. The charcoal is what the black mesh is called and the two mesh colors are used to match your homes existing mesh color. the clearest is the charcoal screen because it does not reflect the light as much as the gray screen. The suns ray reflect brighter on the lighter gray mesh and this tends to block the view a little more than the charcoal mesh. Other than a little more reflection they are both excellent screening mesh and last in great condition for at least 7 to 12 years. So in our opinion fiberglass mesh screen is the best way to go and if you have to pick, go for the charcoal.
